The Dodge Grand Caravan is the most iconic mini-van in North America. Grand Caravan became a household name in the 90’s. A family mini van can fit a large family without impacting cargo capacity or breaking the bank at the pumps. The Dodge Grand Caravan owes much of its success to fleets, but versatility-seeking families remain the primary target. Parents love the highly modular and ergonomic interior, with lots of space and storage compartments to hide snacks, children toys, mobile devices and various other personal belongings.
Need more room in the trunk? The split rear seats are super-easy to fold—the second row, almost as much. Sure, their innovative design sacrifices a good amount of comfort, but most kids in the Grand Caravan sit in child seats or boosters anyway. However, the Grand Caravan has been discontinued as of the most recent 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, parent company of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram, have moved the Grand Caravan model line up under the Chrysler Brand for 2021.
What will the all new 2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan offer?
The new 2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan is more cost effective and basic version of the outgoing 2020 Chrysler Pacifica. The latter has been significantly upgraded for 2021 with more luxury and technology than ever.
The base 2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan, which is roughly similar to the SXT trim at Dodge, which could be compared to the Premium Plus trim at Dodge ($43,395) carries a price of $33,246 (plus freight and delivery). It might sound a bit expensive, but don’t forget that big manufacturer rebates (10% OFF MSRP) and dealership discount will inevitably follow. 2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan SXT will start from $34,296
Standard features include seven-passenger seating with a second-row bench seat and third-row Stow ‘n Go 60/40 bench seat, Uconnect 4 with a seven-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry with push-button start and 17” steel wheels. Tri-zone climate control keep everyone in the vehicle comfort. Eight-passenger seating and second-row Stow ‘n Go fold-in-floor seats with in floor storage are also available.
As for the engine, the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 still generates 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. However, it’s now mated to a nine-speed transmission (previously six), reducing average fuel consumption to 8.4 L/100 km according to FCA’s numbers.
